535i Bearings gone

My 2008 car started to make a noise on the rear which sounded like a plane's propeller and noise grew louder with speed. Having someone check it, he said it is the ball bearings.

Is this a common occurance? Where should I take it besides a dealer who will rip me off? I assume it is not covered under standard warranty.

Appreciate any insight and gottachas to watch out for before I go somewhere for a repair.

You may want to post this to the E-60 forum for the 2008 535, this is the F30 2012-2015 3 Series forum

If you still have warranty. Wheel bearings are covered.

Ifyou have Sport Package with the OEM Dunlop Run flats,
Be aware that they cxan make horrid sounds as they wear, closely imitating
worn bearings.

You mean standard warranty? I dont have extended warranty. Thanks for the tip on tires but I have gone through the original RFT and use non-RFTires now.
