Exhaust valve don't open [fixed]
 

Hi,
It looks like exouse valve on my 240i is stuck closed.
After putting it in sport plus should it open at once or after some time?
After driving 50km in sport mode the right exouse pipe is cold (compared to the left one).

Is the any obd2 tool that can diagnose this?

My answers are for a 2023 US-Spec with iD8. *Poland might be different.*

I would check the iDrive settings and make sure the sound setting is set at "depending on drive mode" instead of "reduced" or whatever it is

Did you check the valve flap while the engine was still running? Use a flashlight to spot it easier ......and don't inhale the fumes :D

Yes, on the running engine in parking and in neutral.
Valve is closed on the right side - I can see it inside.

Bummer! :sigh:

I would assume:
1). Something is defective - time to visit the service dept.
2). Spec'd that way - which I doubt....

Nope. It’s the exouse valve. You don’t have that option?

I optioned mine with an excuse valve I can open up to justify spending money on a depreciating asset.

Well, this is quite embarrassing. But if you can, go for both options next time.

As to the valve it self, the "iconic sound" option must be on. I was sure this is artificial sound from the speakers so I turnd it off.
For a bad news, for a last month I was driving with the valve closed. The sound difference is quite big, so I suggest for every one to heve this option checked.

For a US-Spec iD8 car, you don't need "Iconic Sounds" on to get the valve flap to open.

That was the thing that mislead me.
I was sure iconic sound is the one from the speakers.

i have an 2023 id8 g42 and on sport plus the valve is open and you can hear it, by pressing between different modes, opening and closing
