M2 Paint and production issues

2 Attachment(s)
Hi all, Has anyone experienced some paint issues and defects with their M2? Most notably, I noticed my car has missing paint in the door jambs around the door hinges, etc., on the left-hand side and not on the passenger side (showing undercoat). Also, glue is seeping from the headlights, and there is a crack in my radiator welding.

Has anyone else experienced this?

headlight is bad. did you buy this new or used? it looks like a crappy repair job, at least on the headlight.

brand new from the dealer and untouched they didnt even detail it.

Yeah, you need to get back to the dealer ASAP. They should have caught this in delivery prep. It could have been damaged and repaired (poorly) anywhere along the line after leaving the factory.

Yeah if that wasn't broken & poorly fixed, that's definitely a warranty item. I've got a bunch of fine scratches in the clear coat on various panels that are most likely from dealer prep/automatic car wash. Other than that the paint is great.

I cringe at the sound of you using a car wash.

There’s no way I would run my car through one of those. I wash it by hand and by hand only.

Or a buffer in the hands of a dealership employee.

I made it clear to my CA (who I have a good relationship with) to not touch the car, leave it with the filth it arrived with. When I took delivery, it sat inside the showroom waiting for me, covered in dirt.

I tell them not to prep anything and leave the white transport ppf on the car.

Smart…

Yeah they can’t wash my car and can’t drive it unless I am in the car

I’ve had a problem in the past and will not allow anyone to cause damage to my car or make me have to deal with my insurance co unnecessarily

I didn't use a car wash, I was saying the dealer likely used one during prep. All my vehicles are hand detailed by me & my son. I've tried using my DA orbital polisher to get the scratches out but no luck so far.

Understand now… Take it to a shop and have the paint corrected and then ceramic coating over that

You will absolutely love it the difference… Total game changer

Love that color on M2…

Thanks - it is a nice color. I'll likely have to take this one somewhere. I typically do the paint correction on my vehicles. Here's a couple shots after I did my Carbon Z06. Not bad for a 13-yr-old car. :D

That’s a nice looking car you’ve got there

You take good care of her..
