He wrote up a huge article in BMW Roundel about the intravee integration and I know he has installed nav systems into multiple e46s. Furthermore if you search other forums xoutpost some people have also had issues with burnt discs.

Looks like a good burner, slow write speed, and high-quality media mitigate most issues.

Same here, which is why I'm asking. Heat, etc. in the car can cause media to degrade.
