They snap out as quickly as you hit the accelerator.
Mash it -> it snaps and you poop yourself
Smoothly apply the gas -> it transitions smoothly
At least, that's based on the F82.
Although with the stability control on, it's pretty foolproof. In my short time with the G80s on track, I found you could just touch the limit and stay on it nicely even with stability control fully on - it'll let you slide just a tad so you know where the limit is.
Try slide it a little in an empty parking lot or somewhere safe if you get a chance, just so you know what it feels like. It can be pretty fun...
