Coding with a fast adapter takes seconds to update the ECU, navigating the app and making changes is another few minutes per change. Generally 30 min coding sessions aren't an issue on battery power alone. The 90ah batteries bmw has in these cars have enough capacity to likely support an hour or more with little to no risk of voltage dropping too low for a successful coding session.


You can also code with the engine on - given the things you're coding is unrelated to the engine. Eg. Idrive system, instrument cluster etc.
