I believe it needs to be accessed from below. There's a YT somewhere - the black piece at the armrest end comes off, the patterned metal surround lifts up then 4 screws undo to lift up the whole control panel. You can then pull out the blanks from beneath and insert the coin holder. Reassemble in reverse.
With the car still under warranty, I gave my dealer the coin holder, explained that process and they did it for free. Probably only took them 5 minutes while they were doing a service anyway. That way if any wiring was disrupted, they could fix it - but it was no problem.
