I think the most important thing is to just turn off the engine when there’s a puncture to save it.
But then again, I don’t do PPF either. So I’m the absolute minority in every aspect here

I wasn't going to PPF and was going to drive through winter. But if I get to an M2 again, I cannot drive without cooler protection having gone through what I have.
I heard from the insurance rep how the BMW techs at the dealership were totally unhappy with the design and they were taking videos of the insurance rep going over the damage and analysis to send it to BMW HQ. Insurance rep mentioned they have serious concerns on the about how low the placement is and how the cooler is unprotected. Insurance Rep also mentioned this case will be flagged as special case to be looked by experts. Essentially duplicating the concerns many of us have.
Regarding turning off the engine as soon as the puncture happens, I wish it was that easy. Especially when the hit is not noticeable and the oil loss before when low oil pressure is reported is high enough to damage the engine.
