Some metals/alloys are highly resistant to coating even with extensive preparation.

I attempted to paint the rear badge with a solvent, not waterborne, coating as generally speaking they are superior. It smeared and wouldn’t cover properly.

Surface preparation is the most important factor in any coating activity but I was unwilling to use sandpaper and potentially ruin the badge.

Bought a black badge instead. YMMV
