I thought about holding out for the CS or an xDrive but neither makes sense for me personally. The CS will be special and have the benefit of retaining value (and possibly appreciating) down the line, but I tend to put a lot of miles on my cars and the thought of mileage concerns could ruin the ownership experience for me. I don't know what they're going to sell for and whether they'd be sticking you with a markup, but the higher cost of entry also comes into play. If it's north of $100-120k, you're getting pretty close to pre-owned V10 R8 and GT3 territory.
As far as the xDrive goes, yeah its cool to have that traction off the line but (1) I don't plan on doing any drag/street light racing, (2) I prefer the driving experience and general hooligan nature of RWDs, and (3) I keep my cars a long time and DIY everything; having the extra differential up front and also a transfer case sounds like more stuff that can break and get in the way of wrenching. If you live in a high-rain/snow environment, I can see the benefit.
