If you've followed the instructions then I'm stuck. Only thing I can think of is try DSC off first via the button next to the shifter, then put into S mode and adjust up to S3 using the button by the shifter.
Maybe if you were already in S3 or had DSC off it doesn't compute that you want LC - maybe you have to change both settings one after the other before applying the brake and flooring the accelerator?
It's a long shot but worth a try.
