I preffered the handling, steering and ride of my E46 M3 much more than the M5. But M5 feels like a more solid car and I love the V10. New M3 will be perfect for me. I expect it to feel nimble and light, but with a solid feel and much newer tech.
I don't think M5 is a higher level M car just because if price. M3 and M5 meet different needs.
