I saw the original post, and I'm from the same place you are. I don't know how old this post is, but the answer is pretty simple. Do you intend to drive this thing in the winter? If so: A 335xi by a long shot! My M3 doesn't even make it up my driveway in an Ontario winter, and the 335xi has AWD.

Simple solution: buy both if you have the parking space.

I use a 335xi (E90) as a winter beater and an M3 'vert (E93) in the summer.

Both are chipped (Dinan), so there's not much difference in straight line performance. The M3 is way nicer in the summer, but the 335xi is a safer bet in the winter. The 335 sucks gas ... BAD!
