In my experience, and subject to your taxation/ work situation, a lease works well for 3-4 years. Thereafter, it tends to be much more expensive than purchasing, with a risk that you'll find yourself underwater in trying to meet the residual payment (balloon).

Whatever method you choose (and you should look at the numbers carefully), you should also organise warranty coverage to match the period of ownership, as stated above.
