Attaching a couple of pictures. The angle isn’t the best, sorry! See if you can make out what’s going on. It’s simply attached to the inner latch point on either side.
The middle “hump” helps the seat get level. If you put it in the actual seat, you have to raise the bottom with a rolled towel or by adjusting the base if the seat has that function. So, it works best this way. Plus, the seat is away from the windows/body in case of a side impact.
You can still buckle the 2 rear passenger seat belts.
