It's a pad that resides behind your clutch pedal, that your clutch arm stops against at full depression.

In the e46, you could install a taller one, making the clutch travel up to 2" shorter. There was dead space on the full depression, which was unneeded.

There is no equivilent on the e90s. It has a clutch stop built onto the back of the pedal arm itself, as seen in this picture (look at item #9):
