I had aftermarket clutch stops installed on both of the e46's I've owned. Neither needed a modification to the clutch pedal position sensor. It is a great/cheap modification for those cars, as anybody that has installed one can verify. There was far too much clutch pedal travel prior to installing the stop. The bottom 2" of travel was not needed.
