If we were talking N55, then yeah. Its twin scroll single turbo spools up insanely fast AND it has a low boost threshold.
But for all the modern S motors that I've tried, if there's a lag difference, I can't feel it. So I guess it's moot for me. YMMV.
When it comes to Boost Threshold? ABSOLUTELY, the S58 reacts like a pouty child at low RPMs. As expected. But up top, it is a beast.

Exactly, and not only that.
Take the N54, with a very low boost threshold, but with a rather annoying turbolag. The N55 with twinscroll technology has improved the situation a lot.
Or take the three turbo cars in the video: the RS3 has the lowest boost threshold of the three, but the highest turbo lag, mainly due to the poor, dated intake design - and the worst gearbox, which is why the result is poor in this comparison, but the potential is very high -.
The S58 and 45AMG have similar behavior, but at a different level.
That 2.0l is astonishing, AMG knows how to make engines.
