As stated - the USB thumb drives are an attractive and realtively inexpensive method of mass storage. If you want the iPod, there is a pretty good technical paper that john970 posted which is in a sticky thread in this forum. IIRC, it seems that the newer iPods do not have the same DAC quality as the older versions.
