Assuming you're talking about 991 vs 981 (or any generation Boxster/Cayman vs 911 9xy.z), if you don't know much about either...time to read up. There's lots of info and comprisons online There is also lots of debate over Base vs S vs 'other' (R, 4/4S, GTS, etc...). All are great cars and each has a trade-off. You'd need to determine what is important to you (e.g. NA vs FI, stock SW vs aftermarket tune, which console buttons must you have, etc...) For me, it was 981 (not even 987.2) or 997.2/991.1 due have having important (to me) kinks ironed out and before everything went FI. I was specifically after a NA flat 6.

981 if you want all the tech, more interior room, and a less engaging/connected driving experience. All models have direct injection and electric power steering. All models have great flat 6s. 718 if you want the most updated and present day Cayman/Boxster. The 718 is largely a 981 with exterior and drivetrain changes, the most notable being all engines are turbo 4s unless you spring for the far more desirable and pricier flat 6 variants which can be twice or more the price.

Current M4? Head like a dropped meat pie. There's no shortage of good quality 987 caymans out there that won't need much work, but in OZ your prices are utterly absurd.
