M Performance Alcantara knee pads installed

Simple 2 min install. Pop the shifter surround up by pulling from the bottom inside the center console, then use a plastic trim tool to pop each oem knee pad out. Snap the new ones in and done. They're much thicker than the oem plastic pieces.

Part # 51-95-5-A27-1B6. List price is $302, but you can get them for $232 here, www.bmwpartscenter.com

Looks great, how do they match the center rest, is the color matching the dark or the light stripe?

They're on the darker side.

Thanks! How do you like it, does it improve comfort or simply aesthetics?

Anyone know why these don't fit on manual transmission?

Just realized, the center console on MT has a different shape, these won't fit indeed ... Oh well, I just saved $232

Yeah.. working on a lighted trim piece project right there too, and it only works for automatics sadly.

Also curious about the comfort/aesthetic? What’s your review after having them for a while?

I can't comment on any comfort aspects as my legs don't touch them while driving, but they still look great. I've put almost 5k mi on the car since I installed them.

Someone needs to make these for the manual too. Should be standard equipment - that is some hard plastic the side of my knee rests on when I drive.

I don't think these have any more padding than the stock pieces. They are larger, but are still hard.

I was incorrect, these are actually padded, whereas the stock pieces are hard plastic.

End result looks good. I've been toying with the idea of installing these in mine.

Anyone know if the kneepads from the ID7 cars fit the ID8 2024s? I still have a set left over from my 2022 G42 carbon interior trim package I'd like to use in my new car if possible.

The ID7 pads from my M4 fit my 2024 G42 as a direct fit. The alacantra pads for the 2024 ID8 carbon interior kit also fit my M4 ID7, so they seem perfectly interchangeable. This assumes both vehicles have automatic transmissions.
