Android Phone Issues

I've got a Pixel 8 phone. Works just great most of the time, but every once and a while when I make a call, the person can't hear me. the phone rings and connects, but we can't hear each other. Only fix so far is that I have to restart the phone and then everything is ok again.

Pixel 8 with Android 14.

Anyone else had this issue?

Are you using Android Auto or the built-in BMW iDrive? I can't speak for everyone else, but I abandoned using Android Auto in every vehicle I use.

No longer having my phone feel like a lump of hot plutonium for no reason, drain my battery, and deal with the daily quirks of Android Auto is a happy sacrifice I make to just make do with the built in bluetooth connection, BMW navigation, etc.

Had the same problem with Pixel 9. After I verified my Bluetooth setting were correct, I rebooted the idrive (I believe I also un- and re-paired my phone). That was weeks ago...been making and receiving calls without any issues since.

If it helps, I've got my phone working through Android Auto vice the car's Bluetooth. I can hear phone calls, stream YT, music saved on my phone, etc.

Sometimes but this does not seem to be the cause. I get this problem even when I have not been using it.

Yup, happens to me every couple months, no idea why. Only thing that works is restarting the phone. I have a Pixel 8 Pro. The same thing would happen in my Tesla, so it isn't the car. Also happened with my previous Pixel.

I have a Pixel 8 (non-pro) and iDrive 8, I have had similar issues. Last time I fixed it, I rebooted ID8, unpaired and repaired the phone...basically as if I was pairing for the first time. It was working then, but I don't get a lot of calls that aren't spam, so I don't pick up many while driving.

Oddly, most of the times I could not hear the caller and they could not hear me, it was from my wife. Oddly, callers not in my address book could hear me and I could hear them.

I think this is a Pixel specific issue.

One other note, I tried pairing my old Samsung Galaxy S20, and everything worked immediately, whereas the Pixel was having the call problems. On other difference is with the Samsung you can select all 3 options - Telephone, Audio and Android Auto, but with the Pixel, you cannot have Audio and Android Auto selected at the same time. No idea if this has anything to do with the issue, but the calls do come through once "fixed" even though "Audio" is unchecked.
