SPOILER ADVICE
I have a M240ix Skyscraper Grey, scheduled to arrive in the next week. First task is to remove the awful excuse for a spoiler on the lid. I'm new to everything BMW. Considering the car color and having the M Sport Professional Package, do I stay with a new improved black or carbon fiber spoiler? Leaning towards the TRE ID-01.
P.S.(entertainment value) - Just for curiosities sake, I got a quote from BMW dealer in Louisville for removal and installation of new spoiler. $360.40 for first hour, $720.80 for two hours if needed. Last edited by CRUISE9153; 11-12-2024 at 03:51 PM.. |

I did mine myself, lot's of microfiber towels, 3M adhesive remover, and tons of elbow grease. Don't forget to mask up, both the vehicle and your airway (R95). It is a lengthy process, so do you have more time or money? It took me 4 hours just to remove the old spoiler adhesive. Go slow, don't use a wheel, heat and friction are your friends.
The TRE spoiler to me is basic AKA merely okay, but there are far better options. ArmorExtend is the one I should have went with, but I found "The One" after installing it. It is what I wish I would have got. ArmorExtend is the absolute best looking conventional, or "Wicker Bill" style https://armorextend.com/products/arm...g42-m240i-copy As for color, that's your decision. I don't trust the scratch resistance of the Black colored body pieces, so that's why I went with Carbon Fiber. Throw on a decent ceramic coating and longevity won't be an issue. Cheaper option: Last edited by NKiss; 11-12-2024 at 06:34 PM.. |

Appreciate the input. Definitely a sweet looking spoiler. First I want to make sure if gloss black or CF is the best blend with the Skyscraper Grey. M Performance spoiler to me is a definite no.

I’d go carbon fiber over gloss black all day. From a distance it’ll look black and when you get up close it’ll still look black while having some nice CF goodness.
I’m with you on the M performance spoiler. Last edited by MPR; 11-12-2024 at 08:35 PM.. |

I remember my last few days to delivery. It finally said “at dealership” so i texted my sales guy and was like “the car is there, whats up?” and he was like “ugh yeah lets plan for delivery in 3-4 days”. I was like “dude you are sniffing glue, Ive been waiting for 5.5 months checking status every day Ill be there in 30 minutes”. I picked up the car that night.

Dang, I would need to be medicated to wait 5.5 months. I placed order on September 6 and the wait has been really hard. Patience is not a virtue of mine. First BMW experience, so I definitely will know the drill next time. Have an appointment with dealer on the 26th for install of 4 Dinan parts. No car and have appointment scheduled, go figure. We all seem to go nuts over these cars to varying extent.

If you plan on doing it yourself I highly recommend getting an Eraser Wheel for a drill. It removes all the leftover residue and adhesive itself without much elbow grease. I did an MP-style spoiler from TRE/AUTOID within a month of taking delivery and the glue was still super tough for goo gone + elbow grease but this took it off with ease. You can also use a fishing line and a heat gun/hairdryer to remove the 'spoiler'. You could also do what the guy above says but that takes 4 hours, and not sure whether you are getting better results. As for spoiler, honestly, you can pick any style you like, quality would be pretty much negligible from any of the big brands or ebay/ali. Since I think your car would have the paint-matched lower rocker panels and part rear diffuser, I think carbon would look great since you don't have any gloss black panels! but can't go wrong with either. GL!
edit: sorry missed your post on already ordering the spoiler. https://www.amazon.com/Remover-Remov...919090740&th=1 https://www.amazon.com/Adhesive-Remo...21021261&psc=1 Last edited by bozo777; Today at 12:18 AM.. |

Advice much appreciated. Unfortunately my luck doesn't favor me tackling this project.Wife says I'm like a bull in a china closet. Being a septuagenarian with chronic back issues, etc. makes it a no for me. Any skilled enthusiast wanting to drop by in Southern Kentucky and help install the spoiler would be most welcome. Southern hostility and a fine bourbon collection.would be perks that's included. Since I'm already having 4-5 hours of Dinan work scheduled, SA gave me a respectable quote for spoiler install in Lexington.
