what's the full paranoia procedure here? replace the fuel pump also? wasn't there some theory that it's the built in filter in the pump that breaks down and sends debris into the injectors?

sounds like a good move to replace as preventive maintenance

https://www.urotuning.com/products/i...42258241618113
what about ignition coils?
I have a code for misfiring in cylinder 6

Do I buy this set of aftermarket? or pay up for the genuine BMW parts?

Is this the one where NGK made the genuine? But it's always out of stock?

is the fuel injector something to replace as preventive maintenance? or just wait until there's an issue?

Adding that the fuel filter is integrated on the suction side of the fuel pump. The only way to replace the filter is to replace the pump. The fcp website has a description on the website when you search the part. There’s some speculation that the filter media breaks down and showers particles to the injectors which leads to stuck open position, washout of the oil layer, cylinder failure, and enduring sadness. Replacing fuel injectors is prudent but in my opinion just step 1.

There’s also a couple aftermarket in line filter options which is a more typical approach. To do it over I would have kept my old fuel pump and added an in line filter

Probably? But I haven’t really worried about the pump and sending unit since my cars previous owner replaced the sending unit, injectors, low pressure fuel sensor and inspected the pump motor just prior to my purchase.

Not only no but hell no. Move the coil to a different cylinder to see if it moves. If it does replace with BMW only. All aftermarket coils are now junk for this car. It’s been documented here. Search.

Mmmm kolosy, negative on "paranoia question" ...

To clarify, at least for my Whip, experienced combination of indicators and facts over miles, which drove root cause investigation and choice to PM select items; findings:
  • Plowed through O2 sensors [3 primary sets in ~11K mls]
  • Decreasing performance [ruff idle etc]
  • Emissions, Lamda & other bank 2 issues/codes
  • Cylinder 5 FI - no scoring, compression good, FI condition unsatisfactory compared to other FIs in bank 2
Not advocating 'random' part replacements without reasons, or mitigating 'known issues' [i.e. RBs].
However, smart, selective PM practice is nothing less than good practice.

I'm original owner, plan to retain and prevent more expensive and/or catastrophic events.
Simple as that...

XKxRome0ox IMO, replacing 'key' components with OE manufacturers that supply BMW is a reasonable trusted alternative.

Lifetime Replacement Programs are a means to 'hedge' against expensive part repurchases. FCP and others offer a smart option for key replacements.

For example, Bosch, NGK make several parts for BMW. That said, take care to ensure ordering 'authentic' OE parts from reputable suppliers.
Replaced ICs with NGK w/o any issue circa 2020
>> Disclaimer - As spammysammich noted there's been documented controversy re NGK ICs...proper compatibility/PNs, etc, blah-blah

ECS v5 rotors and akenbono ceramic pads up front and a brake flush. Of course every rotor screw was seized and stripped. Was the hardest part of the job tbh, thankful for a helping hand as I would have rage quit.

Installed the Eventuri Plenum and Intake, I actually like the mix of matte and gloss in the engine bay. Thoughts?

Wow, good looking parts, I never would have expected something that nice. Alibaba makes me cringe and cover my wallet with both hands, but now you have me re-thinking this. What made you take the risk on that kit? Do you have a sound clip yet?

Shout out to Owen okusa, Gabriel dogbone, and Josh lemanszcpm3. These fine gentlemen inspired me to get carbon doors for my car.

These doors are from MK-Rennsporttechnik and are very unique. The rear doors especially do not have a rear split glass section like the OEM and other carbon doors on the market.

Enjoy the pictures:
