I currently have a Gen2 AA equal-length MP and an SST valve controller. I want to pair it with the MAD axle-back, but want some assurance that I will have no problems pairing my MP and valve controller with this muffler. Thanks

I have:

ER cross over pipe
AA equal length midpipe
SST Valave controller
MAD axle back

Everything works seamlessly together.

I have the MAD axle-back & use the SST controller. As long as any exhaust is using the OEM connectors/valve control it will be compatible with the controller.

zero problems, the Active Autowerke midpipe connects directly to the MAD axle back and the SST controller is a direct fit as well

No issues we use the factory cut points on the exhaust so any midpipe that also uses these cutpoints which almost all do will be plug and play.

We also use the factory motors on our rear muffler so using a valve controller such as sst MAD or dahler will work just fine.

It will sound a little louder with everything else being stock. If its not loud enough add a downpipe or midpipe.

Ok got about 100 highway miles in tonight with my MAD axle-back and ER H midpipes. There is a drone right at 2K rpm between ~78-82mph.

I’m still not sure what I’m going to do, if anything. The sound of this combo is intoxicating on the street! I’m going to further my efforts in sound-deadening all the interior panels I can, as I do with every vehicle I own to see if it can take the edge off. That’s going to take me awhile.

Damn bud, that sucks. Maybe the reason I don't have it or don't hear the drone is because I did so much sound deadening to my car (just a guess?) Or I simply don't have it, but no idea why I dont. I even drive with my valves at 100% open & no done.

Did you keep your secondary cats & OEM downpipes? Just curious...

Another guy has the Dinan midpipe and the MAD exhaust and he also has drone at the 2k rpm mark.

I feel for you guys because I had it in my F87 and I could not stand it!!

^^ What sound deadening did you do? One frustrating thing about this car is it’s quite hard to get to certain areas. I’ve done the entire trunk, front wheel well liners, and under the backseat so far.
I wanted/tried to do the rear side panels but couldn’t figure out how to get the side pieces of the rear seats off, which would let me pull out the rear side cards. There’s also airbags galore scattered throughout back there.
Next step is to pull the seats and get all of the floor, trans tunnel and front footwells.

But those rear side cards need to come out because I can tell there’s a lot of rear tire and muffler noise coming from the rear tire wells etc.

The ER midpipe ditches the secondary cats, but I have the OEM DPs. I bet your Dinan MP’s retention of the secondary cats has a lot to do with why you don’t have drone.

OH - YES! I still have the secondary cats! I went to an MFest meet up today & even did 2K-2.5K in different gears so I could report back to you if I even caught a hint of drone & still nothing. I am really hesitant to remove the secondary cats or do downpipes because of the dreaded drone. It was not a fun experience in my F87. I take long drives home back to PA - no bueno to have drone for that long a ride. LOL

For my F87 I had a local exhaust shop take a look at my exhaust. They recommended I get a bottle-type resonator by Vibrant. So I did, they installed it for me - like $150 for the install. My drone occurred over a WIDE RPM band & the bottle resonator greatly reduced the band where the drone occurred. It would still happen at like 80 mph - but WAY better than 65-70-75 which are typical cruising speeds. My only out was 5th gear driving or really exceeding the speed limit. With the resonator I could easily drive out of it. F87 had to use a bottle resonator because there is no room for other types or a J-pipe. I think you could fit a j-pipe or a larger resonator than a bottle-type.

I used this stuff called Kilmat (which is pretty much the same as Dynamat) in the trunk, under the rear seat & the ENTIRE door (both doors.) There are some real tight spots in the doors but you're really able to get like 99% of the door. I used Kilmat on the 2 wheel housings, too.

Then I used this 3/4" sound absorption foam panel (with adhesive back). I bought 6 panels & have the smallest bit left over. I was able to do the trunk & battery compartment, under the rear seat & the entire doors. I did not use it on the wheel housings because I wasn't sure if the interior trim panel would fit with that stuff on there. I seem to remember some kind of OEM sound deadening patches there, too - and I think I just covered over them with the Kilmat.

I also want to do behind the passenger side cards. I have a rattle in the psgr side so when I go to find/fix that, I'll do the sound deadening. I would guess 3 panels would be enough based my memory of the size of the panels.

I can definitely say that just doing the places I did what had a big effect on road noise. I want to do some more under the front carpet -that'll be the spring project. I'll use the rest of the Kilmat & maybe just 1/2" panels under there.

I did both my doors today. Was SO glad I could take the black plastic skins off and get a full job done. I really went all-out on both doors. We’ll see if it made any difference in the morning.

When I have a full day, I’ll pull both seats and do the full floor treatment.

Let me know if you ever figure out how to get those rear cards + rear seat sides out!
