First G42 M240i LCI Videos

A few from BMW Durham:

Exterior

Engine+Interior

The painted skirts on Thundernight looks better than I thought. Also confirming no mild hybrid.

LCI's happen 3-4 years into the model lifecycle. Why wouldn't you think it's an LCI? Maybe the 2026 will have the Gen 3 B58 w/ mild hybrid

"LCI stands for Life Cycle Impulse, which is a term used to describe a refreshed version of a BMW model. BMWs are typically refreshed with an LCI update about three or four years into the production of a model. This refresh can include changes to the body style, electronics, chassis, and head units."

A badge on the grille, wheels that fit… well pretty much every other BMW, and painted rocker covers. T-A-K-E M-Y M-O-N-E-Y.

No body style changes, no lighting changes, no interior changes bar a steering wheel. Oh an a vent whoopee!

Folks getting too caught up on what a 'real' LCI is...

Thus far we've had:
  • 2022 with iDrive 7, split screen, traditional shifter
  • 2023 got iDrive8 with the massive curved screen and the nub shifter
  • 2024 the same as 2023 with some value engineering (no USB in the rear haha)
  • 2025 gets iDrive8.5, flat bottomed wheel, updated vents, painted side and rear skirts, and a lil M logo

I hope that 2026 is a 'real' LCI with taillight changes and such; however, I believe the 2 is a low selling car, so I have my doubts they will make any body style changes at all tbh.

My thoughts:
1) Thanks to Cannockwolf, I already have color matched rocker and back panels.
2) M badge on lower front grille is not for me.
3) Rhombicle trim on upper instructment panel is not for me.
4) Interior vents not much of an improvement, if any.
5) Steering wheel nice but I dont care .
6) Ambient lighting above center vent is nice.
7) Idrive 8.5 climate control I really like.
8) Comfort display is an improvement but I drive in sport mode.
9) Wheels not that much different from 2024 model.
10) Knee pads are nice.

Looks good. Can't wait to receive mine in Portimao Blue. Hopefully in the next month or so! Will be removing the front M badge though. It just snaps in and should be easily removable from the part diagram that I saw the other day.

Ya I would definitely remove it. Also in some markets those little M badges on the fender look off to me too.

Very true. Thankfully, the US market doesn't have the fender M badges.

I prefer the fender badges. I’d remove the front M badge though.
