That said, it's hard to believe but Perez has had 4 podiums out of 7 races this year and mostly 1-2 finishes. That's fine for a number 2 driver--especially one you never have to worry will trip over your number 1 (let's ignore Miami, turn 1). He's faded a bit over the last couple of races but not so much that the Constructor's is in any doubt. His seat is safe.
Checo has to turn it around though, no contract in hand yet... Imola was bad... Not quite last year bad, his form is still greatly improved. He's never been overly strong in qualifying, he relies on his ability to manage tires well in the race, but that's not going to help on tracks like Imola and Monaco where passing is difficult. He usually excels on street tracks though, so let's see what happens this weekend.

Came in not long ago, Checo has a stay of execution for another year if true.

And with RBR struggling a bit with setups right now that only compounds everything. I think we see a mistake by PER in either qualy or the race that takes him out of contention. I do hope that I am wrong though.
But Checo has to stay out of trouble. 12 penalty points equals a race ban.

He was offered a 1 yr deal but he wants 2 years and RB said no.

So the ball is in his court. Presumably RB's offer to Sainz (according to Marko) has expired.

I think he should take it and then move to Haas or something.

It's a gift and Checo should jump all over it.

Then he can move to Uber

Fred's assessment of Ferrari's race:

"If we managed a 1-2 in Quali we would win the race"

err .. I say good luck to Ferrari. I think he meant they had the race pace but for some reason didn't qualify well? I hope that's what he meant!

Another reason Binotto should still be there, Fred just talks he's already ruined Carlos's Ferrari career.

I read him to mean that it's very hard to pass at Imola unless you have a huge pace differential. DRS zone is pretty short and there is really just one braking zone where an overtake is doable. The upgraded Ferrari is better, not near on the level of RB, but not getting left for dead like it has been most of the time since mid-2022. Plus IIRC, the undercut wasn't too powerful this past weekend. So had the Ferraris qualified on the front row, they would've had a good (but not ironclad) chance of a win if they were ahead into turn 1.

Just say NO to BINO!!!

I don't think #FerrariFred had anything to do with recruiting hammy. That's one obvious headache he doesn't need when SAI is perfectly capable. I think it was a business decision from that $hitbird John Elkann

Elkann never seems to show himself at any races and I think he knows sweet FA about the team, I guess he's the one at the other end of the phone when Bino, Arrivabene and now Fred receives calls from Elkann in his ivory tower.
