I'm considering Dr. Beasley's Waterless Wash in between pressure washes at self-serving car wash where I'll only use their pressure washer/dryer and obviously avoid any wax/foam brush (btw any recommendation for a good routine at those places?) Yep, professionally applied Gyeon matte finish to my Frozen Grey paint, has made maintenance that much easier. Also use Dr. Beasley’s matte wash each wash. So far, all ok 👍🏼

Not that my matte paint would ever get this filthy, but I watched a pretty decent primer on washing matte paint, and I question some of the products recommended bc I cannot find if they are matte paint safe, despite his testimonial and him obviously using them
Specifically:
-Adam’s Car Shampoo
-Gyeon Wet Coat
-Gyeon Tar Remover
-P&S Bug Off

Anyone use the above referenced products on their matte paint?

Hit my car with its second round of BMW matte wax. Took around 4 hours, but I think it came out great. I highly recommend this wax, it had been about a year since the prior coat and the product inside the bottle was still perfectly fresh. I do so love this car.

I just picked up a new frozen white G80, which already has a stain on the rear bumper. The car was ceramic coated yesterday, and the detailer was not able to remove the stain. Can you tell me how this stain can be removed? It looks like it came with the car when it was purchased at the dealer. I’m having conversation with the sales person about it as I’ve read these stains get baked in and there is no removing them

I typically ceramic coat my customers cars with GTechniq C1 and Top with Exo V5 for Frozen paints. C1 does not add gloss, and hardens the paint up some. Exo V5 gives off great water repellency.

I also have been using C6 Ceramics new series, and it works great on frozen finishes too.

Hey Everyone, just got an X6M in Frozen Pure Grey and diving deep into the matte paint cleaning best practices. First off, this thread is amazing...

Not going to PPF and based on this thread with the right process it seems like you can keep things looking good with the right chemicals/technique.

Plan is Foam (MJJC foam cannon), light contact wash (2-bucket), wash, leaf blower, light dry off.

Chemicals I'm thinking or already have:

- Adam's Mega Foam (Foam) and P&S Pearl (contact wash). Both are Ph neutral and I don't think should harm the matte from what I've read (but if anyone has other experience, I appreciate the feedback).

I'm putting together my Dr. Beasley's order and have the following in my cart: Matte Paint Coating; Matte Advance Coat; Matte Final Finish; and Matte Paint Cleanser.

Do I need to add the Decon on there before putting on the Ceramic, or just hit the car with a quick Iron spray after wash? The car has bout 150 miles on it.

Has anyone had issues with applying the Matte ceramic coat? My only concern is I just have my covered car port to do the application. It's out of the sun but would need to be a non-windy day to limit potential dust/contamination during the process. If this is stupid, let me know! lol

Once the car has the coat on it I'd feel pretty safe with a wash every other week, using Paint Cleanser for bugs/droppings, final finish when there are smudges or quick spot-clean, and then do the advancedcoat every few washes to reinforce the ceramic coat.

Anything I'm missing? I think a lot of us on here take pretty good care of our cars and I think for those of us that do, matte paint isn't as scary as some make it out to be.

My Experince frozen paint …
To own frozen paint you must be able to hand wash no question . Or swirl marks will show in the piano trim I call it .

BMW should have a book how to treat and maintain frozen not just say soap and water and sell .

I have been doing a 5 month crash course driving those around crazy trying to establish a maintenance plan for caring for my xm label while protecting the vehicle without harming the vehicle for sure want to be smart enough own a bmw xm label but not stupid enough to hurt it . Fine line I learned all with good intentions .

First yes I became BMW and dr Beasley’s small storage outlet i stuff my cabinets with Matt this and that … wrong. I like water based products on my car .
Just because it says Matt black or frozen doesn’t mean I have to buy it I learned .
There is a big marketing world out there and I jumped in the deep end I think .

Yes I have from and PPf on the front hood and front end … I do like it it was a very high end brand and install . I like it can you tell the color difference from the frozen paint after washes , in fog or mist I can tell .
I read one detailer say the majority of swirls in black paint are caused by the owner … I froze in my tracks . I am like that’s me I had swirls in black finsih was washing by hand only … did everything the buckets the screens every tool to help the wash be good I could buy and still causing myself stress . I only do a contact if I absolutely have to otherwise it’s hands off contact wash . I wash my car indoors and that helps.


My go to products I trust on my xm label frozen black are .

1 Jimbo’s super soaper water based and cleans like crazy . Love this gentle cleaning product

2. I may pre soak with the same and add a shot of Jimbos pure magic in with the soap

3 . Foam cannon with the Adam’s soap love all the foam . I ll do 2 foams .

4. The special Matt soap they saw me coming .

5. Water spots I keep all the high alcohol off my car it’s not the best for it I am sorry . I use water and vinegar in a bottle 40 % … keep it more natural and clean the other products all the Matt I am running a sale . Never again
Trying spraying a alcohol based cleaner on PPF say goodbye to your next 15 minutes chasing streaks.

Vinegar and water on a micro towel on any dried drip it’s off my car and done .

6. I don’t due long lasting ceramic on my car I don’t want permenet on my car it scares me what if it’s wrong I get human error it’s the world … I like a great water based ceramic spray Jimbo’s hard as shell funny product it shines the gloss paint and keeps the frozen frozen … I am good I am ok with that goal if not changing that finish is accomplished. The hard as shell ceramic spray on the trim cleans up any swirls it’s perfect for the trim and the break dusty bmw wheels.

I am still debating PPF for my doors

Don’t have any products to suggest, just putting my 2 cents. I didn’t build it bought the 25’ g80 in frozen brilliant white because it was sitting so gorgeously in the showroom floor of my dealership. Before buying the OEM frozen paint I’ve already heard about the cons of owning one in regards to maintenance. In my 3 plus months of owning it, I’ve racked over 3k miles on it while it isn’t meant to be my daily car but I couldn’t help having fun with it. I’ve done freeway and local, long and short distances. I’ve taken it to car wash with hand wash no track only. In the recent so cal fire event, my family and I escaped (not evacuated because how close we were to the fire) in the m3 where I drove in the streets full of fallen trees and branches. I kept hearing the bang bang sounds from both the bottom front and top of cf roof. But it was the last thing on mind to care about the car at that time. Fortunately we were one of the lucky ones that our house survived the fire. Since the fire, I’ve been driving my x5m. Last week, I remembered to check on the m3. I thoroughly and closely checked the entire body including the cf roof. I was surprised there was no damage at all. Not even a dot of chip. So the point of sharing this is that I realized the factory frozen paint maybe in my case is white, is not as scary as most people said. In my case, it proved that it is perhaps more resilient than gloss finish because if it was gloss I’m 100% sure I would find chipping damage on the clear coat. While I think there’s nothing wrong with using top of line specific products and only hand washed ourselves, to me I’m ok with having someone else wash it as long as I know there’s no harsh chemicals in the soap. But if there is, doesn’t it get rainsed off right away anyway? Having said all, for peace of mind, the m3 is being ppfed this week for full front and roof (I was thinking full but changed my mind). If I can turn back time, I would have bought a gloss finish, drive it for some time until I’m itching for a change then stealth ppf it. I did this to my f95 and thought the investment was 100% worth it. I once just with limited resources, I rainsed it only and wiped it dry for a wash without any issues. But on the other hand, having to pay stealth ppf on already matte finished car that the result doesn’t yield any visual pleasure is difficult to accept.

Great frozen paint story so happy you and your family made it out of the fires safely

Really a great story about frozen paint I find the paint very safe I plan on driving my xm label frozen black and enjoying the car that’s me . I have 4000 miles in almost 6 months it’s fun . Well said the paint makes you think maybe even stress … can not imagine driving thru fires hearing things hit your paint and you wonder if it’s ok that’s being human . I ask myself did I buy the right paint there was a gloss black and frozen black both labels when I picked my car out … novice me I loved the look of the frozen hands down for less stress the gloss would have been the easy choice no question sometimes wish I did pick the gloss BUT I do love the frozen black look along with all the lines on the car that was designed to give you a constant array of colors in changing light that only frozen paint can . I quickly had to step up my game a lot on my car care that I wasn’t ready for but I found a new love of taking care of my car in a proper way and it’s been fun .

I wash indoors it’s fun I threw away all the gimmick stuff even the bmw products funny they say only soap and water but let us sell you this and this everyone has a special black Matt product and saw me coming . I have a cabinet of special Matt products I will never put on car ever .

The only bmw product is the leather protector I like that . The rest no thank you .
Jimbo’s detailing super soaper soap yes perfect , his hard as shell ceramic spray yes … I tried inside the doors first worked my out love the product my favorite. And V and water water stains what have you wife’s idea and saw it other places it’s golden … the Jimbos is water based products I love that have a system now and can sleep easier .

As much as learning was challenge so was avoiding all the gimmicks to buy for Matt black care . Like x5 MN said in his post the frozen paint is a tough strong paint more then you think … my xm label was very dirty on one trip of 2 trips I took it on ok got a call from wife was talking to her lost my thought not paying attention and took my car in a car wash yes brushes I am in the wash on the phone and I realized what I just did and was absolutely horrified of what I was doing out of habit . I came out of the wash wanting to absolutely die and turn my car back in for just being so stupid . The dumbest BMW owner who ever lived right there ..And to my unworthy amazement not a mark not on the paint only a small swirl passenger lower piano trim that came out with a ceramic spray to never appear again . Was shockingly stupid and so lucky at the same time but learned some very tough paint . Telling the story hurts.

I am going to hold off on PPF for the rest of my car besides the front because I love the frozen look … I know there is a rock and drunk bicyclist just waiting to scratch my frozen paint as I type ok but when that happens I ll deal with it and if they get so bad then I ll repaint the frozen . But usually I don’t get Rock marks in my side panels or door dings I try all I can to avoid but life happens I get it . We will see but if it happens like in life I ll deal with it . Would rather take that PPF money and have BMW repaint it before I cover it all up .

Before I took possession of my M2 (slightly used), I had the dealership matte wash and BMW nano wax the car. I’m good with this because the car I purchased belonged to the head sales manager, so I felt comfortable letting them clean it. Anyways, I received what was left of the Nano wax but I had also purchased the Dr Beasley matte kit and it came with the Matte Paint Coating. So can I apply the Matte Paint Coating and the Nano wax? What order? Dr B seemed to think the coating should go on first then the wax because the coating should last longer but they were not familiar with the nano wax.

I said a lot here I love the posts on frozen … can’t help but to think how much Matt cat product is bought out of fear … saw my friends very expensive ceramic coating yesterday with 3 tick marks in it breaks your heart . I don’t know if the ceramic slowed down the rocks prevented many more chips from happening but it surely didn’t stop the chips .
I am frozen paint owner who has PPF on my front end and hood great it’s fine it’s high end 80 percent of the time you can not tell it’s on there .

I am holding my full car PPF and long term ceramic money for a new paint job should I ever need it and enjoying the colors my frozen black changes to I love the color and I drive it and enjoy it .

I have a stock pile of Matt products I bought thinking that’s my road to go down I was wrong .

I love Dr B s the people are kind … but all that’s on the shelf love the BMW products but except for the upholstery lotion that is all on the shelf if it says Matt black I found it’s a rip off . I can say it I bought and tried it .

You want water spots removed … I chased them vinegar 40 % to water your fine and water based which is nice .

That frozen paint is strong it’s tough stories of flaming embers from a owner bouncing off his car . I drove mine thru a auto wash with brushes stupid was on the phone not paying attention won’t happen again car was fine it’s tough don’t let anyone kid you .

Soap find a good good foam soap I like Jimbo’s detailing super soaper it cleans … if it’s dirty I do it twice BUT I don’t contact wash the foam is good enough the frozen washes better then any other paint out there .

Protection Jimbo’s hard as shell try it do a small area first put it on dry or with a little water left on the car water based it shines the gloss cars and keeps the finish of the frozen it took me 3 months to slowly trust it working from the inside doors out . Water beads up better then carnuba wax . Your car will be protected from bird poop and such hard as shell by far my favorite product .

But keep it simple with the frozen the more simple the better like bmw soap and water only I get it but the car needs to be protected
