Mosselman iTronic System - Opinions?

https://www.mosselmanturbo.com/en/it...p-s58-g-series

Surprised more people aren't talking about this? It seems like they are using a different hardware vs the usual RaceChip box. The claimed numbers are very close to what we would get with a full ECU remap on Stage 1.

For those that dont want to go down the Femto route and remove their ECU this seems like a good option? Thoughts?

What exactly does this do differently from a racechip or JB4? For that price it better be unique in some aspect.

Yes that’s what I’m trying to understand too. If the Femto route didn’t exists it would make no sense to go down this path. But for some of us where sending to Femto and back isn’t easy, looking for a top draw piggy back may an option.

Not to mention the cost of shipping to femto, unlocking, BM3 and protune. That's like a $4k journey lol.

I'm definitely interested in learning more about this thing.

If you’re considering “premium” piggyback, also check out Dahler.

How would dahler differ from RaceChips hardware and method?

Bump on this. Has anyone tried the iTronic route? Nice to not have to send out the ECU and to avoid warranty trouble

BMW Warranty does not discriminate between piggyback vs flash tunes and Flash will always be preferred for full control/best gains. If warranty is a concern, simply wait until the warranty period has lapsed as the flash tunes keep getting better as the platform matures.

By the time you received one of these controllers, you can have your DME shipped to FEMTO and returned, all ready for tuning. Turnaround is pretty quickly (matter of a few days) for the DMEs we send out.

Enjoy your car for the short time you have it.

Sending out the ECU will not void the warranty. Damaging the car due to the tune (regardless of the brand and how it is tuned) will void your warranty.

Choose a proven brand, run the recommended maps like the hundreds of thousands of other users, and you will be fine.

If unlocking...custom ECU tune by reputable tuner and trans tune if 8AT.

The mosselman is no different than any other piggyback on the market besides 2 things.

It connects to the same exact sensors that all piggyback's do: rail pressure, manifold pressure and charge pressure

The 2 differences with the Mossellman is:
1) it looks fancy, who cares
2) it connects to the can-bus, which sounds impressive and all but all this does is give you the ability to turn the piggyback on/off via a steering wheel control

Same goes for the Dahler. These are all just the same exact things in a different package. Some will say "but the tunes are different." Well yeah they can be tweaked but only so much because they are all working with the same limits. It's pretty much splitting hairs. I cannot believe what companies (especially the European ones) are getting away with what they charge for these things.

So for someone just looking to get started and stage 1 their 2021 m240ix / also get a DP ... what would you recommend aside from femto? associated piggy back semantics aside (marketing and pricing etc.) for a beginner isn't a 70hp gain and potentially 95 w/ a DP decent?
