You can cover the backs with alcantara yourself for about $250 in fabric and buy the carbon fiber pieces on Aliexpress for $140.

I'm doing the same mod but ordered the c/f piece from Autoid and the had a shop procure the same color Alcantara as the arm rest ... and we are using the blue seat stitch color for the seat backs stitch vs the silver in the M-Sport option...

I can't imagine cutting, stitching, and fitting the alcantara is a DIY job... Or perhaps my grubby fingers lack the delicacy for that kind of work?

Is this the sort of thing your friendly neighborhood custom shop would have the expertise/experience to do or are there other sorts of specialist shops that you'd go to?

I'm sure they could for a nice chunk of $$. I've covered nearly all the interior plastic trim in my Z06 with Alcantara myself. It really isn't that difficult. And the seat backs in the M2 are already covered with leather, remove it and use it as the template to cut the Alcantara.

Some examples:

I have them. I love them. I would love to have more Alcantara on the inside. The headliner and parts of the door cards would be great.

Those do look great. Too bad they're not discounted very much on the online parts retailers' sites (5.6%). Did the price include both seat backs?

I agree with you about more alcantara in the interior. I'm considering covering the entire center console. The shape of it looks pretty easy to cover vs the center console I did for my Z06.

covered seat backs with c/f center

Purchased a grade of Alcantara that matched the M/P arm rest and added the C/F piece from Autoid/TRE. Tri-color stitching finished it..

Looks great. Is the Alcantara color that matches OEM 9002? Looks like it, but wasn't 100%. Who did your stitching?

Carbon Fiber Seat backs

There's a custom shop in Roxboro, NC called Dreamworks... They have an upholstery shop along with multiple other capabilities... told them what I was thinking and they made it happen...

These are so nice. Would have been real nice with that tri-color stitching, but they're fine as is. I'd consider these to spruce up my interior after I get my M2. Ugh... I hate the wait.

How do you like the quality of the C/F piece from Autoid/TRE?

Does it match the rest of CF interior trim?

Hi, did you have issues installing your covers? Once I screw the bottom fixings, the top pops off. I‘ve tried to keep the tops on by setting the headrests to the highest position, but when the car shuts down, the headrests go to the lowest default position and they pop off again. So nothing really worked for me. I haven‘t modified anything yet.

I didn't do it myself. I work for BMW and had my service department do it. They do this kind of thing all the time.
