The talks are likely to involve a swap deal that would see Fernando Alonso move to Red Bull. While the Alonso-Red Bull part remains a matter of speculation, it is clear that something is happening behind the scenes.

Aston Martin is in a strong position with Andy Cole as CEO and team principal, the arrival of Adrian Newey, an exclusive powertrain deal with Honda and a state-of-the-art factory and wind tunnel, while Red Bull is struggling with issues including Newey's departure, a switch to in-house powertrains and ongoing tensions between Westpan and Horner.
