Winter window issue

Looking to see if anyone else is having the same issue and has any fixes in mind.

When there is ice build up along the windows I'm still able to get into the car even if the window is frozen and won't roll down the little bit but when I close the door the door it just bounces away and won't latch. I believe this has something to do with the way the window rolls up and down a bit upon opening and closing the door.

Any help or tips on this issue would be appreciated I'm having a few quirky issues with this car during the frigid Canadian winter.

If you have ice on the windows, take an old credit card or equivalent piece of plastic and insert it between the glass and seal and run it along to break any ice bond in there. Best to then roll the window down all the way and clean the seals and apply rubber conditioner to them.

If the car is washed ensure the window is rolled down and the seals are dried, too, besides the door perimeter seals and where they contact the body that also should be dried to avoid damage.

Something like this is a great product to apply to all your door seals

Nextzett Gummi Pflege Stift

Ran into this with my Boxster.

What I quickly learned to do was if when I opened the door the window failed to drop due to icing I'd get in -- but not close the door -- and start the engine.

Then I'd gently wiggle the top of the side glass while pressing the window down button. With very little wiggle force the ice would break and the window would go down.

I'd close the door then raise the glass. But upon subsequent opening and closing the glass would drop and go up.

I did use Gummi Pflege, too. But I'd wipe down the rubber weather stripping with a clean damp rag. I'd also clean the side glass and pay particular attention to the glass that contacted the rubber weather stripping. I'd see a very faint film on the glass that required a bit extra work to remove.

Then I'd apply some Gummi Pfledge to all the weather stripping. I owned that car for 16 years and put 317K miles on it and the weather stripped was still intact and doing its job at the end.
