I highly doubt the reveal would be 1.5 years ahead of the start of production. I’d say more like the reveal would occur summer of 2026 maybe…and I don’t even know based on the information in that thread if the M3 would be in production at the start of the new gen 3 series production or if it will be delayed. Typically I think the M3 production is delayed by a year or so.

That thread I linked to also doesn’t say anything yet about the model range for the M3 but I would assume it would essentially be in the “competition” spec to start and then latter they may do a CS/CSL/Label version.

Owned five M3's including the g80; owned a Rivian. Super excited for this, it'll be in my driveway one day. The only thing I'll moourn is losing the manual trans.

Seems to me that everyone that has owned an EV has nothing but positives to say about the experience. Bimmer Bros will say these people are just fan boys, but with so many that have owned numerous, powerful ICE cars in the past (and currently), it just can't be true. Looks like performance isn't an issue with EVs. I believe this is called progress people.

Yes, I know half of you are gonna start quoting me and want to tell me all the reasons why EV is the future and who am I to tell people what an M car should be.

No, I don’t care, we can have different opinions. I really just don’t think they should consider these M cars. They’re a new class of BMW.
I get what you are saying but as BMW knows well, M labels sell so why wouldn’t they take advantage of decades of marketing and PR instead of building a new label from the ground up.

I mean from the business perspective 100% they’ll leverage the M cache and reputation. And I do underhand that if I was on the inside.

It’s crazy how much they throw the M logo around now. The new M Lite cars have them absolutely everywhere and I think it’s kinda hilarious. I guess it really just sells, But it’s just not the same level of performance and it kind of dilutes the concept of M from a traditional standpoint.

I've got one more bay in my garage. That's all I have to say. What will go in it will be a full electric. I hope BMW can deliver.

Not entirely true. I love the electric for the ease of use, no maintenance, and effortless commuting. But I turn to my ICE sports car to do long weekend drives and feel something that is alive. The future should embrace both options. You can have all the performance in the world in a car but it doesn’t supplant the weekend sports car. Also the family hauler must be a fuel efficient ICE, that won’t go away until range is 500 miles with quick charging.

My opinion is there is much more to be gained from an environmental perspective by figuring out how to convert trucking (local and long haul) and boating to a more sustainable future. These are much bigger challenges but yield much bigger results.

Give us 800-1000 hp with matching torque, AWD, track mode, driver-adjustable regen, 4-500 mile range(real world), access to all Tesla Superchargers, super low CG, and M handling and driving dynamics. Who cares how it's powered?

You shouldn't push evolution.

Ummm..., last I knew, it was BMW who defines what an M car is... you know, just like they always have.

Ummmm… last I knew, most human beings have individual opinions, and in a free world, are allowed to share them.

My comment on saying that it’s not a “true” M car is my opinion.

I’m not personally a fan of EVs in general, specifically when we start having M cars that are fully electric, as it doesn’t feel like a driver-centric decision. It may be phenomenal and I’m wrong, but I will always miss the smell of fuel and the grinding of gears.

BMW obviously defined their brand and their cars. I just happen to not agree with it. If you’re a big fan, FANTASIC! They’re making a car just for you.

What's with the square shape? What the hell is going on with BMW and it's new styling...
