The way the boost comes on in those cars is well known to be treacherous. Add the slippery surface, and the ultra wide tires and there's your recipe for disaster.

Sad about Lando's car too.

What is the expected value of parts salvaged from this vehicle?

Or will this vehicle be rebuilt with a branded title and be sold for 5% less than it would otherwise bring?

I'm sure both cars will be repaired properly and probably bring more money than they did before.

Gordon Murry was not impressed with the F40 when he drove it in 1990. Said basically it was a tube chassis with a body, but not even a modern tube chassis. He wasn't impressed with anything but it's weight.

I've always loved the way they looked though.

All I see is the lower skirt panel needs replacing and perfectly drivable with some red duck tape in place until fix.

He's a hard man to impress with fantastically high standards.

In truth, Ferrari's of that era are super bad quality, but they certainly stir the soul.

They are horrendous quality and very unimpressive under the skin. Still about the only super/hypercar I have any interest in

"Gordon Murray analyzed the car in Motor Trend's July 1990 issue: "It's the lack of weight that makes the Ferrari so exciting. There's nothing else magic about the car at all...They're asking two- and three-inch-diameter steel tubes at chassis base datum level to do all the work, and it shows – you can feel the chassis flexing on the circuit and it wobbles all over the place on the road. It really does shake about. And, of course, once you excite the chassis the door panels start rattling and squeaking. Whereas the other cars feel taut and solid, this one's like a big go-kart with a plastic body on it." He severely criticized the old racing technology: "It's not even '60s technology, from a frame point of view, it's '50s twin-tube technology, not even a spaceframe. It's only got local frames to hold the bulkhead to the dash, attach the front suspension, rear suspension and roll bar. And then you have the marketing Kevlar glues in with a quarter-inch of rubber."[56]"

When the chassis is as stiff as a wet noodle, these things happen.

Agreed - i.e. by someone who knows what he's doing. Thanks for posting. I think I might've seen part of the video before. The video sort of reminded me of "Rendezvous". The chick in the F40's right seat looks well groomed by the look of her nails. Goes with the territory I suppose when you can afford an F40.. Nice legs too. The video maker gave us all a gift with the awesome night shots, sound of the motor, and F40 exhaust note. It takes balls and skill to drive an F40 that way as well as a fat wallet. Here's Rendezvous and Yellowbird at the ring (with no helmet or gloves).
