Speed Camera Detector
Just ordered a new 335i Saloon which is due in beginning of March and I need to know if I will be able to use my CYCLOPS detector on the front dash without any problems. From past experience i know that gps receivers have trouble getting a fix if the window is heated.
Any ideas? Thanks Last edited by matlough; 01-10-2007 at 04:17 PM.. |

If you ordered the Climate Comfort Windscreen option then you may have a problem with it on the dash due to the reflective coating. However there is a cutout near the rear view mirror with no coating for mounting devices like this.

The GPS works fine, but I don't have the climate comfort windscreen. They've got some good deals on at the moment here: http://www.road-angel-gps.co.uk/new-road-angel-gps.htm

Used to have a Road Angel but wasn't that happy with it.
Got a Talex now and it is excellent - simple to operate, small and very reliable - The company was set up by ex-coppers I understand. (You can buy a Talex light at Tesco's for £70 BTW) Cheers

http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/ It used to be free, but they now charge a small fee (£19 per year I think) The data is updated at least once per month. However, unlike a 'road angel' or even a 'tom tom' if you want to use pro nav you need to burn a new disc for every update. Fortunately DVD+rw works though. |

I have the new Road Angel and have had no problems with it.
Saved me a few times especially on unknown roads.

I get mine from pocketgps.net - used to be free, but now they charge £19 a year. TomTom is actually the better nav system (e.g. waypoints allowed, audible POI warning, multiple POI's displayed, touch screen control) But I wanted idrive for the phone and radio views, plus it helps resale and gets rid of the wires. |
