Auto Stop/Start

I just learned that the m240i has auto-stop/start. I absolutely hate this annoying feature. How easy is it to disable? I'm considering cancelling my order just over this.

if you put the car into sport mode, it automatically turns off. or you can code it out with bimmercode. tbh, it's not a reason to cancel your order for. also there's a physical button too

Then cancel it

I just wish it worked like the F30s, when you turned it off it stayed off. No need to turn it off every time the car started

Better get used to it, most new cars have this now

Well you can obviously cancel your order if you want.

Alternatively there's a button right next to the Engine Start button which turns it off (it has an "A" inside a circular arrow on it). So just get into the habit of pressing that button straight after you've pressed the Engine Start button. After a while it will just become an automatic reflex action to do one after the other.

This function is standard on our car , you can use bimmer code to code it as “remember last setting” . Or disable it

This is what I did. Pretty easy to do if you follow all the instructions for Bimmercode.

I can't imagine cancelling an order over something so trivial. There's a button right above the start button which turns off auto start/stop and it's automatic disabled in Sport mode anyway.

His car will have iDrive 8 so he can’t disable it nor program to remember last setting……at least not in the current version of BimmerCode.

There is a workaround by coding your startup to Sport Individual. But you’ll always have a Sport dash even though you’re not - if you set everything to Comfort.

My low tech solution is to take my index finger and and press the auto/start button to turn it off just before i hit the start button, it's only like right next to the start button, thus taking next to no effort. Frankly it's become a habit that i don't even realize I'm doing it...dunno what the fuss is about.
Anyway that's my workaround.

Yes you can. Bimmercode works fine. You just select a G20 car and program what you want and 90% of it works including permantly turning off start/stop. There is thread on it. In the thread is a reposne from Bimmercode support saying to do this for now.

I believe the physical button has been removed from 2023 models.

Spot on that's what I've read as well, will sticking it in sport mode still disable it? Or will It need to be individual?

Yes, BimmerCode works, but not for this. Have you tried it? Show me. There’s at least 3 of us happy to be wrong.

Yes, being in Sport disables it.

I do not have my car yet, I am basing my comments off of the people that have reported it to be working. Unless they are lying about it? Why would they. I have also seen it doesn’t work for a few people. It seems it is working for many more people than it’s not working.

Perhaps it depends on the OS version of ID 8 because there are people it works for and there are some that don’t.

I have ID8 and disabling it worked fine in Bimmercode. Updated to the latest version of ID8 a couple weeks ago.

And I do have a physical button in my 2023.
