Harry reviews the M2.

The 2023 BMW M2 gets the same 6-cylinder turbo engine as its big brother the M4 and only comes in 2WD form. Does this make the M2 the best driver's M-car of them all?

For anyone who has one - is it really not possible to fold the rear seats? That's wild (and sucks) if so (for bikes!).

Haven't watched the video yet but if that's what he says then he did a laughable amount of due diligence.

The rear seats fold down just fine and I fit a size 61 road bike in the back with tons of luggage just fine.

And to answer your question, yes they do fold down 40/20/40.

What might have happened is that he was able to flip down that middle (20%) part, which you do from inside, and found the “ski hatch”. But to fold the outer portions you have to pull the handles in the trunk (on the ceiling of the trunk).

Many people who haven’t spent much time with BMW cars in the past don’t seem to know about the release levers that are a bit hidden away and provide better boot security by not having the release buttons inside the car. Perhaps the fact that the ski pass-through release button inside the cabin led him to believe there weren’t seat back releases as he couldn’t see them inside, too?

To sum up the video he thinks it’s great as a GT car but falls short when pushed beyond 8/10ths. He says he can fell the extra weight everywhere with the exception of accelerating.

I think a lot of this has to do with the numb steering. EPS has been out long enough for BMW to get it right. I don’t get why they fall short on this with so many cars.

Sounds like the exact opposite of what everyone else is saying, since most people say it’s only exciting on track at 10/10ths but boring on the street.

People are used to having levers on the back seat, not hidden on the upper side of the trunk. Sedans and coupes tend to have them in the trunk, it's not got much to do with security because my Tourings have had them in the cabin. I know some people from BMW who don't even know that.

I think the security comes from putting the car in valet mode that which locks the trunk, with the seat levers in the trunk there is no way of getting into it (except the narrow passage between the two back seats)

I'd have to check if my EU-spec F80 and G21 have that valet option... frankly, never thought of using it. E82 for sure doesn't have it; too old, that girl.

My F80 doesn't have a pass-through either, they apparently saved weight by doing a 60/40 split rear bench unlike the 40/20/40 of the F30.
