I was able to get Frozen Grey spec'd while they offered it in the US -- I'm still months out from delivery and wondering if anyone else had opted for the color and what photos were the best examples of the finish.

By the way... I've read the hand-waving about the allegedly difficult upkeep with frozen paint and I'm not worried.

Friend of mine picked up his M3 comp in the frozen pure grey (I believe is the name?) spec and I think it looks great.

He did partial front matte PPF to keep the finish similar.

Upkeep is fine so far for him as far as 2 bucket method on the non-PPF'd areas goes, he's about to hit winter in Colorado so time will tell if those ridges + valleys end up being harder to maintain.

As long as you maintain + wash on a regular frequency, you should be able to live with it as you do a non-matte finish vehicle. The only inconvenience I am aware of is obviously no ability to paint correct in case a significant scratch gets collected. I think there are some companies out there who have matte paint touch-up products that do a decent job for rock chips.

Definitely think the wait is worth it, I have a 6MT M3 on order in Frozen Black, but was going back and forth between that and Frozen Grey. Frozen colors bring out the body lines so well with this generation's M2/M3/M4s and make the car a bit more unique, in my opinion.

Frozen Pure Grey especially has that stainless steel kind of look and looks incredibly sleek. The only reason I went with Frozen Black was because I wanted a darker color, but man Frozen Pure Grey is stunning.

For those waiting on “frozen” paint colors. Have you considered wrapping any of the standard colors in matte PPF? Kill two birds with one stone. 😀

I am going to wrap... chose Evolve Matt Urban Grey Metallic...product came in over 3 weeks ago.. in line for install mid January.
Interesting that the only view of the new M2 Frozen Grey looks pretty similar to the chosen wrap..
I ordered BSM which I have had on two other BMW's but I think BSM on the M2 hides the body lines and the CF options are just oblivious from 10' away...

Satin PPF doesn't always give the best result compared to frozen paint.
I had satin PPF on my black M3. it looked great

however on white, or some other colors. it kind of just makes it look like primer.

I would've specced m car in frozen white if I could, but I opted for normal alpine white. and I know that wrapping it in satin PPF would just make it look full as it doesn't have the pearly sparkle effect of the frozen paint or the depth

Frozen grey was my first choice, but I did not want to wait so I chose BSM. Frozen grey looks fantastic.

If you have some extra cash you are willing to spend, I highly recommend PPF stealth the whole car. It will make your upkeep so much easier and protect the paint finish you are spending extra money on. Not to mention- stealth will be the exact same look as what’s under it.

Found out my SA was relieved of his 'responsibilities' -- cause and effect tied to me still being in the dark about what is going on with my build. Management involved now so I hope to learn more this week.

Paint protection film is not a wrap. If you're going with a frozen paint color, ppf is even more important.

I selected frozen PB and ended up cancelling that after I was originally scheduled for a November build, and now my build with Brooklyn grey is on production begins (for the past 2 weeks). Hopefully gets into production soon. This will probably be my last time ordering a new bmw if I can’t wait because the wait sucks.

Water based and scraping and then dry. PPF is typically 8-10mm thick and has self healing and hydrophobic properties. The stealth PPF will not change your color or consistency. Think of it as exo-skin to protect you.

To note- wraps are vinyl and typically 2-3mm thick and “cheap” feeling vs a PPF. They are meant to change color, not protect. PPF is meant to protect, and some types can change color if the buyer wants. Stealth which I recommended above is used for matte finish cars like yours. It also can be used on gloss to turn matte.

I am attaching a photo of my car here in BSM. It is fully PPF’d STEK. You can see it just brings out the definition of the color and does not change it. You wouldn’t even know it’s there unless you felt the under skirts of my car for seams.
