Lower Charge Pipe N55 Reliability Question

Hey ya'll. Long time lurker, first-time poster. I have a 2013 F30 335i xdrive (with a PWG I believe, not 100% sure) running the MPPK. I've had the car for ~6 years but kept it stock the entire time. I recently had my first track day, HPDE course, and had an absolute blast. Unfortunately, I blew the charge pipe (right at the TB) around my 4th session on the track (drivetrain malfunction error, etc.). I was lucky enough that some of the instructors were able to connect me with a local a shop that gave me a free OEM CP (local stealership was trying to charge $700 for the OEM part). We were able to get the broken CP replaced the next morning in the parking lot but I opted out of tracking the rest of the day due to concerns about the 'new' OEM part.

From my research, this seems pretty common - I just ordered an aftermarket ER CP that should be here in a few days. Since I no longer have any warranty on the car, I'm looking at going down the FBO mod route with this car. My question is whether or not I need to look at replacing the lower charge pipe.. how reliable is this part?

In terms of upgrade priorities, I'm looking at:
1. CP upgrade
2. Stage 1 flash tune
3. Inlet pipe upgrade
4. FMIC
5. DP upgrade
6. TBD, maybe Stage 2 flash tune

Don’t forget to flush your fluids.

Make FMIC number 2. Do at same time as tune.
Make inlet number 6.
Won't need to upgrade the turbo to intercooler charge pipe unless you upgrade the turbo.

I'm running 16 to 20psi on a mid high 11second ewg car with the stock turbo to intercooler pipe.

Awesome! Thanks for the recs. Will reprioritize my upgrades. Shouldn't have any issues running a Stage 1 w/ just the CP replaced, no?

You are correct. The charge pipe is the bare minimum recommendation for stage 1 tune, as the turbo to IC CP is more resilient (its silicone vs the CP plastic). Heat soak might be an issue on the stock intercooler depending on your location, however, its not necessary to switch out for S1.

As mentioned above, just do the IC before stage 1, or at least shortly thereafter. I would absolutely not track with stage 1 tune on stock IC. You will be heat soaked after the 1st pull. Since IC and CP labor overlap, your best bet is to get the IC and CP ordered and installed at the same time, then go stage 1 (or stage 2 MHD).

Enjoy that for a bit, then do the DP and stage 2 (or stage 2+ MHD).

After you are itching for more mods, do a turbo inlet (MST v2 highly recommended). Finally, get XHP when you want to put a cherry on top of everything.
