So my local postman bumped into my car...
....while it was parked outside the house. However I couldn't be too annoyed as he knocked on my door and let me know. That kind of honesty is rare these days, especially in London. He said he'll get it sorted for me when he gets back to work. A few hours later he calls and gives me a ref number and the ball started rolling.
3 days later my car was collected and to my surprise I was given Jaguar XE V6 Supercharged for 3 weeks as a courtesy car: The accident repair people said rather than patching it up, they will just replace the whole bumper with a new one. I wasn't complaining as since 2006 its gathered a load of stone chips and age related damaged. Picked up the car other other day and I was made up: Thank you Royal Mail! |

Not bad at all!
Looks like they gave it a bit of a clean for you too! How was the Jag btw? |

The Jag was pretty awesome as you can expect. I've never driven a supercharged car before and there was so much power on tap with it. It was a nice comfortable cruiser, a bit noisy inside, but the suspension was leaps and bounds better that my E90. I could actually just cruise over speed bumps and potholes with ease. Another thing that really impressed me was when I took delivery of the car, I reset all the counters for mileage and MPG. Over 3 weeks and just under 900 miles of combined driving, I managed to average 30mpg. I think that's pretty damn good for a car with so much power. The boot however was pretty useless, I could barely get things in after I'd put the pram in. I also liked the adjustable driving modes, from Rain/Snow, Eco, Normal and Dynamic. Dynamic was really good for hooning around and general asbo behavior. The car really comes alive and sharpens up. However would I have one over say a new 340i, I don't think so. |

Result!
I think I'd rather the Jag than the 340i. I didn't much like the 340i at all; it lasted a month before I decided to sell it. The E90 335i is so much nicer to drive.

Interesting you say that, the 340i is probably what I want next in a tourer. Will definitely have to give it a serious test drive.

The 40i cars need MPPSK to come alive. JMHO. It's telling that I bought a 340i to replace an E90 335i and then decided to sell the new car and keep the old one, which isn't supposed to be how it works lol. Then an M5 tempted me so I am back to selling the 335i but anyway, there we go. I think the Jag is good because it makes a noise that 1. is nice and 2. you can hear!! The 340i depreciate quick, so they look better value for money than the Jag, however.

A lot of damage... so much so, it makes me think the postman was in his van when he hit your car, as opposed to the postman on his own (as the thread title led me to believe).
I'm just kidding, glad you got this sorted - as you say decent of him to fess up the way he did, and whoever did the paint knew what they were doing. All's well etc. |
