Sad to see him go. My favorite Val Kilmer movie is The Saint.

I don't know if there is truth in this, but I once read/heard somewhere that Val wasn't top choice for the role in the movie The Doors as Jim Morrison; it was actually John Travolta. Val submitted audio tapes to Oliver Stone of him singing as Jim. Members of The Doors listened and said they couldn't tell if it was Val or Jim singing in the tapes.

Val got the role and he sang in the movie.

Couldn't see John Travolta being Jim Morrison. It just wouldn't work imo.

He had a wicked comic wit as well. Real Genius is a classic. He was a year younger than I am. Too young.

He was also in Top Secret.

Sad to see him go. If I remember correctly, Tom Cruise insisted on having Val in the Top Gun Maverick.

When I saw his death announcement, I'd thought it was due to the complications of throat cancer not pneumonia.

Magnetic screen presence, woman absolutely loved him. Never really did as well as he should have due to a moody temperament and substance abuse but a real talent.

Wow 65? That is seriously far to young. Top Gun and Tombstone is what comes to mind.
