"From spring 2024, Comfort Access with the BMW Digital Key Plus will be integrated into the My BMW App in vehicles equipped with
BMW Operating System 8, 8.5 or 9. " Per https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2078839

I read this announcement as existing M2's will be receiving Digital Key Plus this Spring with a MyBMW app update. Do I have this wrong?

it´s only for cars that have already Digital Key Plus - Key will be integrated in My BMW App instead of Phonewallet -- and yes not for Manuals...

Absolutely. Manuals lack the hardware (i.e. NFC), so no software update will ever help us.

Unless BMW changes the hardware for manuals, of course, but I don't expect that to happen.

Digital Key Plus allows you to keep your phone in your pocket.

Oh that's awesome. Just got my car yesterday and was wondering why it needed me to place my phone on the charging pad in order to drive.

Do you guys really want a key that's worth $1500 to replace? Less tech is better for these things..

I still don't understand what's so difficult about using a fob?

Just the same as it’s convenient to have the door lock and unlock automatically, seats to auto adjust and remember their position, air condition that regulates intensity to achieve a temperature automatically, headlights and wipers that come on and regulate themselves automatically, yada yada yada. None “needed”, all cool and welcome.
It's just more unnecessary items that can (and likely will) break, require constant updates, and add $$ to the price of the vehicle.

We dumped my wife's '23 Grand Cherokee Summit she ordered after 9 months because none of those things you mentioned above worked consistently. And the dealerships were unable to fix because "there will probably be a software update in the future".

Right now my M2 turns on the heated seats and steering wheel when it's 70 degrees outside but not when it's 35 degrees. Thanks "intelligent" auto climate control. Because being able to set the temps at which those features activated (iDrive 7) was such an inconvenience.

I will say the BMW forums have been quite entertaining reading about all the "conveniences" or lack of, about which people complain (lack of a power trunk, using their watch as a key, etc.)

By the way, I don’t believe the car turns on the heated wheel by itself, so I think what happens to you is that you had it on before and it remembers it (it remembers it by default for a certain time, and you can change the time it remembers it by coding a different time span).
I'm not going to go into a whole discussion on this, but yes my car is behaving how I described re: the auto climate control. It actually continues to do it with the auto program turned off as well.

And yes there are plenty of complaints about no power trunk, and the wireless charger for manuals, and lack of digital key for manuals, etc. I find it comical because people throw a fit about plugging the phone in, having to press a button on a fob, or lift/close their trunk
