Does anyone know the factory tint if any on these cars? I dont want to go under the legal limit here (35% side and rear).

Sun protection glass rear and rear 1/4 in UK and front and side tinted - but I can’t recall by how much off hand. IIRC it’s close to UK legal limit if 25% front, 30% side.

Rear side and rear can come with a tint from factory, varies by model (annd probably market) I've had this option on four cars.

Vehicles specified with Sun protection glass have a light transmittance value ranging between 18-42% and shading between 58-82%.

This applies to all glazing behind the vehicle B-pillar including the rear-side windows, rear screen and where fitted, the glass sunroof. The precise light transmittance and shading values vary per model and different glass suppliers.

The front screen and front-side windows have a light transmittance of 78 (+/- 2) %.

I’ve just looked back at some of the photos of US cars on the photos forum and it looks like you’re right!
They look terrible without a (rear) tint. Wonder why they do that?

Tint is not an option in the US. US models ship with no tint.

I got 20% and love it. We have a 35 limit in Illinois but it’s pretty much never enforced. Same thing with front plate

yea idk how strict tint is here in MA, ive heard it can be tough getting an inspection if its illegal

In Miami tint is pretty much mandatory. 🤣

better use a machine to check before you apply them. there might still be a small percentage just from the window being a solid object light needs to pass through.

I failed the ny annual inspection just by being 2% below and the shop is going by the books. which brought me a lot of trouble and parking tickets.

Also in IL (Chicago) and have had 18% and no front license plate for nearly 20 years (before 35% became legal).

I have never really gotten harassed as cops have better things to do. In the suburbs and central IL I had to bs my way out a bit though.

To be honest I would go with 25-30% these days as 18% is quite dark at night and 25-30% is closer to the real legal limit.

If you have two illegal things on your car you're more likely to get a ticket, so I'd rather just go no front and moderate tint.

I think that is crazy that the cars don’t come with tint even as an option in the US, but I guess that’s down to different states and different regulations.

You have those horrible side reflectors and also the orange side light in the headlight as well.

We may have front plates in the UK damn i don’t know if I’d make that trade for no front plate.

20% looks great . But I've had 20% on vehicles and I didn't really like night time driving in low light conditions

Maybe it was cheap tint which led to poor visibility

This time around i will likely go for 25%
