Steering Rack Issues in M2 G87

Hey everyone, I have problems with steering in my M2 G87.

Symptoms I’ve noticed:

1. At full lock in both left and right turns, the steering wheel encounters a step and is difficult to move past, but after that, everything returns to normal.

2. Sometimes, when the car is stationary, the steering wheel feels stuck and requires extra force to move, almost as if the power steering isn’t working for a moment, especially on the first movement after parking.

3. While driving, the steering assist feels inconsistent – sometimes it’s lighter, sometimes heavier, even at the same speed and in the same driving mode. 4. Occasionally, when turning left at around 30 degrees of steering angle, there’s a strange “step” feeling, as if something suddenly changes the resistance in the steering system.

5. The steering wheel has been slightly off to the left since day one when driving straight.

6. When driving on country roads at speeds of 50-70 km/h (30-45 mph), the steering doesn’t self-center very eagerly – I assume this could be due to the rear-wheel drive, but I’m not sure.

The car only has 1,000 km on it.
Has anyone experienced similar issues? Could this be related to alignment, the steering angle sensor, the steering rack, or something else? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Garage List
If the steering wheel was not aligned from day 1 mate it should of been back in the garage on day 2. That has been your first alarm bell and now your feeling really uncertain about all the other things you have listed. I haven’t noticed any of these and I have just had the running in service done. Something is definitely not right with your car buddy

ALIGNMENT. Step one. Take it to the dealership and report ALL of this to them. You should get a free alignment. I did, for only pulling to the right. They will take care of you. And they will tell you if something else is off.
