I am widening my wheels by 1/2" front and rear. I also plan on lowering soon. I didn't want to stretch the stock tires an extra 1/2" thus lowering the sidewall, but if they don't sell I may keep them and use them eventually.

I don't see the Conti's as much of a risk, they are fantastic tires. I have them sitting in the back of my Jeep waiting for wheel delivery.

What's the power cutoff at? Like 10 miles remaining?

Def not a risk! Would like to try those as well. I'm sure they'll be great, I'm just a Michelin fanboy.

What are the wheel specs you went with for front wheels?

I'm also going up 0.5" on the rear wheels I just ordered but will be reusing stocks. Not a big deal at all I do it on all my cars. 1"-2" extra, prob wouldn't recommend haha. Let's just hope I win the tire lottery

I have too many other places to spend that extra $2k

Happened to me once when I first got the car and if I remember correctly it was at around 20km or 10/12 miles

What REALLY happens is that redline is moved from 7200RPM to 4000RPM. So if you’re over 4000 when it happens, it likely cuts fuel.

This is done to preserve the engine from starvation, in my opinion/understanding. It could be very dangerous to be in a high load/high RPM situation and suddenly have no fuel to cool the chamber when the pump can’t pick up the fuel because of high Gs. It could cause detonation and pre-ignition if sustained.
That would make sense and basically allows you to coast to a gas station. I'm good with that as long as it's not a surprise and kicks in with like 100 miles still to go instead lol.

Fair, bad wording on my part meant more like you're able to drive to fill up but not WOT or above 4k which at that point is more than reasonable.

What I did to my g87 today:

I picked it up finally!!! Took it to ppf shop to get a sample of stek dynoprism. Have it scheduled for ppf Monday, hopefully getting the litespeed wheels swapped in ASAP. I think I'm gonna wait for photos till the wheels, tint, and ppf are done.

Obtained - car delivered to me by my dealer here in Germany. Beautiful drive back up to home in Frankfurt from south of Stuttgart. Its good to be back in the M2 family. My 17 M2 was superb. Certainly the G87 feels even better. Enjoy the photo's!
Spec overall - Toronto Red/Sport-Auto/Alcantara-Sensatec seats/

Have a super weekend!

I heard that. I didn't really want to part with the cash for the tires but did end up getting them for 10% off so it wasn't horrible. I also got my forged wheels for a significant discount since I helped the vendor out.

I stuck with the 19 front/20 rear scenario... almost went to 20's up front but the ride quality when I had 18's on it was a huge difference from the 19's so I didn't want to make that type of sacrifice on ride quality going from 19 to 20 up front... if it were just about looks I would've done 20/21's

I'll post photos after the wheels are on... need to lower it too. The link in my signature is my car on the manufacturer's website.

You will probably need a 10mm spacer in the rear w/ those, what sparked the +18? That will be the same fitment as stock wheels with an 8mm spacer. Front should be within 1-2mm of perfect

I just went
19x9.5 +5
20x11 +8

827Ms are on! For some reason they wanted to do an alignment. Unfortunately, they did an alignment for a G42 because they didn't have the right equipment for a G87. Now my car feels weird and pulls left. If anyone knows alignment specs they printed me the sheet. I'd like to have an idea of how bad it is.

It's going back soon.

There is no reason to do an alignment after changing wheels... only if you change suspension heights/components. How is the 'equipment' any different to align two cars that are nearly the same? Every other alignment shop is able to do any car at any time. Definitely shouldn't pull after that either, sounds like they just screwed you around to make some extra money. I would try to get your money back AFTER they put your alignment back to spec...

Post up the sheet

If the alignment specs are not available for the G87, the G82 specs are likely to be the same, other than the wheelbase difference (which should only affect the thrust angle slightly). I would have the dealer set to those specs if they haven't got the correct specs yet.

Luckily he mentioned the dealer will correct it later. But now his car is out of alignment and will eat tires. This is really bad form for this dealer.

My dealer refused to do an alignment until they get the right specs, they need to update their software. This is the correct way.
Gotcha, I thought he meant the actual hardware. Makes sense for specs to not be updated yet, but I imagine they could still just set the specs safely to G80/G82/G42 and not have the car pulling to a side.
Regardless, I don't see why they're messing with alignment in the first place for a wheel swap.
