It doesn't seem to work fully as advised though. Can't start from the key fob, just the BMW app which isn't really what I was shooting for.

Oh, that kind of sucks. I use the fob 95% of the time. I wonder if the dealer can fix the fob so that it works.

Although XM reception is fine on clear days, the slightest cloud cover will result in XM reception cutting in and out.

Take note if XM reception is important to you.

I normally work with my insurance and shop to have the windshield film added back before the windshield ever gets put back on. More convenient, saves time and cost is covered as part of the glass coverage. I'd look into if your insurance and shop can work that out for you in the future.

I dont know the offset. I just tell HRE to give me my usual flush fitment. They measure the car and know what to provide me

But sizes are 20x10 front and 21x11 rear!

All I’m saying is that your antenna cover might not be making it worse. Unless you tried in the same stretch of road at almost the same time, it will suck when it’s cloudy even stock.

I do not get any interruptions whatsoever under any adverse weather conditions. Trust me, we get a hell of a lot of winds, clouds and storms here in South Florida.

The SiriusXM satellite is geostationary about halfway between Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands, so the inclination from South Florida (around 27 degrees latitude and almost directly south) is much better than from Western Canada (around 50 degrees latitude and well off to the south east). Consequently signal strength in Canada is likely to be about 60% of that in Florida (-2dB or so weaker).

Although rain-fade for the 2.3GHz SiriusXM signal should be fairly low, an otherwise weak signal due to low inclination, mountainous terrain and the small antenna on cars will lead to signal dropout.

I finally got my update pushed (first since I bought the car in April), and my remote start no longer works. Do I need to have the dealer restore it, or is there some setting that I can fix on my own?

My DirecTV satellite started doing streaming failover during poor weather/bad signal. It works great. I have no idea if I pay extra for that or what but it started just doing it over the last few months.

Check your settings. My wife's X5 updated and I had to re-enable it through i-drive.
