I used a hexagon sheet of ABS from ebay, cut to 56cm x 16cm. Slides in easily and attached with zipties behind on the ACC bracket.

I knew the price of admission to the BMW game. I knew it would cost me more than other cars. I was not upset by that as I have only owned German cars since I was 18.

What I did not know was how incredibly dumb some things are that have to do be done to keep it from being a heap on the side of the road and how dumb some items were designed on this car.

1) Having a stereo system in a $70k car that sounds subpar to a stereo system in a $36k GTI. The Fender system in my 2019 GTI blew the H&K system out of the water. No quality loss at high volume and a subwoofer that punched my in the sternum and ear holes if I wanted it to.

2) Having to provide my own protection for the radiators and oil cooler or a small pebble will take out my engine. Fine. $600 worth of parts to do what the factory should have done. Whatever. Would I have rather spent that on other modifications? 100 percent, but fine. Parts ordered.

3) Havng to buy OEM BMW washer fluid or your pump and nozzles will fail. WTF.
Yes, I know in the end it cost no more than normal fluid, but come on.

I’m sorry my dudettes and dudes. Just a little frustrated as I had the car for all of 2 weeks before having to store it for the winter. It’s currently sitting in my garage with 500 miles on the clock. It hurts to see it sitting there, not being driven while I make a somewhat large payment on it.

I just really hope when I am able to drive it in the spring that I can overlook the annoyances.

I know people will rag on this post, but I list want know that it will be worth it at some point. I want to know that it wa smart to pass up my RS3 allocation in favor of this car. This was my second attainable dream car. My first dream car was an 2004 R32 and while the M2 could run circles around it, it has some big shoes to fill and so far I can’t get my foot into it.
If 1 is true, that really sucks
As for 2 and 3, don’t be a baby
As for living in MN, perhaps idrive would be best for you.

Didn’t do anything to my M2 except realize how DEAD WRONG I was about these bucket seats.

This is my second G87 (scroll up in this thread or search my profile to see what happened to my other one). My last G87 had everything carbon EXCEPT the buckets.

I was convinced at 6ft 210lbs athletic/thick build I would be uncomfortable in them. I briefly sat in my buddies G82 with them also. I wasn’t impressed so I opted out.

This time around on my second pass, I said “F it- we go full race or nothing at all”.

I was WRONGGG. These seats change the whole drive of the car. Sure, they suck getting in or out. Sure, it’s hard to adjust yourself in them. But when you are locked in, you are locked. In.

The 6MT and sitting in these things has me constantly trying to overtake minivans keeping under 4.5k during break in.

Probably not for everyone, but I sure as hell stand corrected on them. M Sports are for sure more comfy, but there are levels to these seats. As said…not for everyone.

Ok I’m done fangirlfing them lol.

They are works of art on top of it as well. Too bad only dogs and small children get to look at them in that back seat

Those carbon seats are beautiful.

The non-carbon seats are also quite nice looking. They did a really great job with interior this time around.

DME arrived at Femto yesterday. Got my flex fuel sensor yesterday as well. Getting really excited!

GTP made this process incredible easy. They sent me a shipping label, provided clear instructions, and held my hand the whole way. I tend to ask too many questions and they've been more than welcoming and helpful in getting my answers.

For those who have done this before, how long did it take from when your DME arrived in Femto to get back into your hands? I'm hoping I can get this thing back ASAP so I can spend my vacation next week dialing the car in.

Still waiting on my custom beadlocks from VFC. Those should be ready in the next few weeks.

You can also retrofit alcantara + carbon seat backs on the regular sport seats, if you’ve got some extra coin laying around

No hard fast rule. Depends on what they have (in terms of ECUs) and who it is that has sent them in. Yes, some of their clients get preferential treatment. Could be less than a week, could be weeks...

Man and here I am hoping this thing gets sent back out today. Thanks for the crushing reality check haha.

I just hope I get it before I have to go back to work on the 20th.

You could get it back before the 20th. I assume your return label is DHL overnight?

I would need to mount a big living room mirror on the back seat rests facing forward so I could look at them in the rearview mirror. BMW has their carbon weave down, always have.

Saving that $$$ for summer/track rims.

Nice! I know they had a load around the Christmas holiday time.

Who are you using for the tune?

GTP out of California. They've been awesome throughout this process.

Now how the hell do I install this BM3 flex fuel sensor? Anyone have any instructions for the engine bay kit?

They did a wonderful job with both seats. I would have liked a few more color options for the carbon buckets, but it’s all good. That tan interior color option with buckets would have been insane…

I was definitely bummed that I couldn’t get orange or red interior, but considering how long it took me to get the buckets at all, I’m just happy to have them.

Took a buddy of mine who was skeptical of the buckets for a spirited ride the other day. At the end of the ride he said “ok, WELL, when you drive like that, the buckets make a lot more sense”.

The seating positioning between the M Sport vs the Buckets varies greatly also. I notice that I’m seated much lower in the car like a proper race car. More upright and dialed in for driving vs the casual reclined positioning with the typical 1 hand on the wheel.

The buckets for sure make 2 handed driving much more natural and comfortable than the M Sport seats. Sure you can get the seating position similar, but you can not replicate how low and dialed into the car as the buckets do.

Same. Just haven’t ordered yet cause I don’t know if I want to cut and only do midpipe. Or order both it and axle back.
