I ordered my daughter's G42 last year this time and received the vehicle this April. We ordered the package NOT for the cooler but for the wheels/tires/stick-on fender lip, that's the only way to get what she wanted.

I actually thought the factory missed the protection piece when I first saw it. Ended up installing the Turner's plate. I picked up my G last Saturday and the Mish plate just arrived, good timing.

BTW, the Turner's plate is better built than the Mish, I don't mean just the thickness or material, I am a bit concerned with the 2x welded-on U-brackets on the Mish.
That’s a slick jack! What is that?

Yes. I also ordered the front screens after waiting 3 weeks for another vendor's screens. Ordered from ZunSport on Monday & they're arriving tomorrow.

It's nothing special, you can do this yourself with some aluminum grill mesh and just extend the end over to the two washer screws on either side and then use some self-tapping screws into the plastic around the perimeter of the oil cooler. You should be able to DIY for around $20~25 which is dirt cheap.

The piece is a bit more substantial than some cheap aluminum mesh. But everyone is free to use whatever they like or continue to leave it open as well.

Repurposed lab table jack, fitted some rollers on the bottom and rubber pads on top. I used that when installing/removing skid plates on my offroad vehicles since I can't count on my daughter lending a third hand.

I used that jack to align the Turner's plate as it was heavier than the Mishimoto one.

Ok 1-2kilos more maybe and the motor does not die. Fair trade and not noticeable to most if not all drivers. The marginal weight gain not worthy of any debate lol.

Update: Insurance says they are still running numbers and may need few more days. They said the current estimates don't tally to total loss but they may determine otherwise based on the salvage value of the car. They also seem to have no info on this model since it is 2024 and a rare model.

Now another concerning point they stated is the repair rep is recommending against the turbos replacement and is only recommending oil line flush. Kind of bummed out they are saying this. Can someone explain what can go wrong by not replacing the turbos and why?

And you’re adding it at the very bottom of the car which actually helps its center of gravity.

If the turbos were starved of oil or got any metal glitter in them they would have gotten damaged too. If that’s what they recommend you should at a minimum request they do a full inspection of turbos and certify they are OK to reuse.

As the car is brand new i don't think I should assume that risk. If the oil starvation caused such damage to the engine there is equal chance the turbo has run without oil. Even if the turbos show no current damage, there is a possibility that these turbos fail few thousand miles later.

What is the price of turbo replacement. The car is new and the motor will essentially be new as well. Recommend you insist on a full inspection to see if there is particulate in and around the turbo's. Including that could push this into total loss regime and new car ordered possibly.

If you want to keep this car post repair, insist on turbo replacement for piece of mind. Failed turbo is covered by warranty after engine is replaced??? Get any agreement in writing as well. Start a register of all calls about this car and date/times of them and names.

As someone who recently blew up & replaced an engine in their Subaru WRX. I would 100% fight to get the turbos replaced. It's not worth having contamination getting back into a brand new block.

When my engine blew in the Subaru we replaced any component that touched the oiling system. It's worth the piece of mind.

Kudos for bringing her skiing. Oil cooler is very strong, I still am in shock a rock can randomly rip it open. Looks good for 9k km.

All the folks that think the oil cooler on these cars are fine, please stick to your words, man-up and please never install any protection. We really need more examples like mine
