So I installed the Zunsport guard today, pretty easy but I did add another screw midway along the back edge. Something I didn’t really consider was what is above that plastic panel I just jammed 3 self tappers in? I assume it’s ok? The one I added was same length as the supplied.

I may add something to protect mine. I jacked the car up today and it had a few dings (2,700 miles in.) I can't get over the price of some of these protectors though, specifically the Zunsport one. The prices of the larger ones like from Mishimoto I can understand. But nearly $200 for the Zunsport one seems a bit ridiculous for what it is.

It sucks we even need to worry about something like this. Road debris you wouldn't even see/notice running over shouldn't nearly total the car.

At $200, it is probably like 5000% markup, ridiculous, all thanks to bmw for running a shit show like this.

You live with an interesting decision matrix to put it mildly. Save money for the Mishimoto - would have cost me more than the Zunsport. The 'skidplate' actually extends downward as well. Not optimal .......at all.
To be fair, the OEM plastic protectors on the front facing radiators (on the manuals) is directly against it too. My only worry about this DIY solution would be it coming off since it looks like its just pressed in and not secured by a fastener.

You could own a C8 Corvette and pay $400 for 2 thin aluminum radiator screens that are approved by GM.

xps I know that sucks, but it's likely the best outcome for you. You'd think the insurers would figure this out pretty quick and put the pressure on BMW. I won't hold my breath!

What a trip dude. Sorry again for all of this ordeal. What’s your next move? Hopefully you still have enough love for the brand!

Call me crazy but I picked another one this weekend. Same color minus the carbon roof and the bi color wheels replaced with all black.

It felt like I was rushing into this one but after sitting into the car with sun roof it does feel much welcoming with the extra light. Not sure if this is going to burn me during resale but I am happy with the purchase atm. May be will try roof wrap if it bothers me too much.

And this time I towed it home and I am not driving it till the turner skid plates arrive and gets installed. .

Already replaced the mirror caps too!

Met a fellow forum member who was pickingup another TR, ended up introducing myself as the OP and it was fun talking!

Congrats!! I’m glad you stuck with it, and glad about the outcome overall. Also, believe it or not, happy that you kept your caps, instead of selling them to me

I specced mine w/o the CF roof. I appreciate the sunroof, and doubt it would have an outsized impact on resale either way.

Fwiw, your post increased sales of the Zunsport, Mishi, and Turner oil cooler protection by at least 250%

Congrats, OP. I was so sad reading about what happened to you. Very happy that you found another TR right away, instead of waiting months for an engine swap.

Enjoy your M2 and Happy New year.

P.S. I just ordered the Zunsport mesh for extra peace of mind, thanks to your thread. Seems to provide another chance of slowing or deflecting debris that I can't see, without reducing ground clearance or meaningfully impeding airflow.

Glad to hear it worked out in the end. Between this horror story and the egged thread, I won't be driving mine until I get full PPF and an oil cooler shield.

Just add a mesh to that turner skid plate, it's too open imo.
