The same applies to the radiator protection. Just so you know, I have had to replace my radiator...not from frontal damage but something kicked up off my front tires and pierced the back side of the radiator. I tried to get BMW to cover it but no dice...
It's a design flaw.

It is clearly not a design flaw according to BMW since it first appeared in 2014-2015 and has not been touched since. It's a feature and why the cooling is so good on these cars. I'm not going to say it's the best idea they have ever had, but there's always tradeoffs to be made and space is at a premium in the front of the car.

BMW are also far from the only company doing this as well.

No protection always leads to less money in your pockets.

I know this is a very late reply but I just had to say holy cow, I had heard FL insurance was wild these days but that is…really more than I’d expected to hear…so sorry for that.

In Vegas suburbs my homeowners is $590 per year.

The rates are very much driven by the risks in a given area. I expect Florida rates are dictated mainly by Hurricane losses.

Here in Calgary there is a significant amount in the premium to cover destructive hail risk. Measured in terms of percentage of property value, we still pay a reasonable 0.3% per year for insurance, but likely 1/3 of that is for hail coverage. Due to the recent wildfires in British Columbia our holiday cabin is in a high risk area, the insurance rate there is currently 0.5% per year of property value of which 2/3 is likely for wildfire coverage, but I expect it will go up substantially with an order of magnitude more area burnt in Canada these past couple of years.

I have little opinion on hockey, I don’t tend to watch any team sports, so no dislike of any team, really.

Can I ask if anybody that leased their M2 had whichever underbody thing installed at dealer with a service? Just curious if anybody had concerns about installing themselves then having the dealer point fingers at you for messing something up

Don't lease so I am not sure if there's an actual concern, however, all the aftermarket protections are not mod's, the pieces are simply replacements and one can easily revert back to factory, as long as you keep the pieces being swapped out.
